Getting Myanmar visa

Myanmar embassy in Bangkok

We decided to get our Myanmar visas in Bangkok. It was quite quick and painless.

Waiting to submit the application
Receipt - you'll need it to collect your passport & visa

Step 1: Get application form from counter 4.

Step 2: Fill in the form. Attach one photo to the application.

Step 3: Submit application form with photo, copy of passport and an additional photo. Get it all back, along with a ticket number.

Step 4: Wait for your number to be called. This can take a really long time. The ticket number counter wraps from x99 to x01 (299 to 201 for us) so if you have a low number and the counter is a slightly higher number, you can take a nap..
Or maybe strike up a conversation with another traveler.

Step 4: Submit everything again and pay the visa fee*.
You can request one of three processing choices - the same day, the next day or the day after next - the faster, the more expensive.
For "same day", you need to show your plane ticket. No tickets are needed for the other options.

Step 4: Collect your visa between 15:30 - 16:30 of your requested day. Check your receipt for which line to get into.

* For the option we chose, next day visa, it was 1039 baht.
The embassy accepts visa applications from 9am to noon.

Everbody's in a hurry to get their visa (maybe).
